Dr. Chika Nya-Etok has many years of experience as a Counsellor. Trained and certified by the Institute of Counselling, Glasgow, UK, she is the Lead Counsellor at Soul Health Counselling services based in Abuja, Nigeria.
Her experience covers a wide areas of practice such as relationship Counselling, family Counselling, grief and bereavement Counselling, retirement Counselling and career Counselling. She is a much sought-after resource person for training in counselling skills.
Dr. Chika Nya-Etok is also a Public Health Physician with over twenty years’ experience, a 2015 Fellow of the Health Literacy Leadership Institute of Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston, Massachusets and a passionate advocate for Universal Health Coverage.
A former Country Medical Adviser of Unilever Nigeria, she has previously worked in private clinical and corporate occupational health practice. She is the Principal of HealthWise Concepts in Nigeria which drives Health Literacy promotion to educate healthcare professionals and the public on health and related matters for print, electronic and social media.
HealthWise Concepts envisions a Nigeria in which there is optimal patient-provider synergy at all levels of healthcare delivery and accessible, affordable, qualitative care for all persons of all demographics at all times.
The advocacy to improve health literacy among healthcare professionals and the general public is driven on social media by the hashtags #SoulHealthTalks, #HealthLiteracyNaija and #PlainLanguageTuesday.
Dr. Chika Nya-Etok is a member of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC), Nigeria.
She is happily married with three grown-up children and a delightful grandson.
