‘Segun is an acclaimed mediator and trainer of mediators. He holds a first degree in Mechanical Engineering with extensive experience in Training and Human Capital Development. He brings to the mediation process, the creativity and ingenuity of an Engineer – calling the process, “Human Engineering“. He also holds a Masters’ degree in “Peace and Conflict Studies” with a PhD in view.

 

’Segun has consulted for and trained mediators for Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), Mid-Western Oil and Gas (MWOG), Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), German Agency for International Development (GIZ), DFID: Justice for All (J4A), Mercy Corps (MC), International Republican Institute (IRI), Kofi Annan International Peace-making Training Centre (KAIPTC), Heartland Alliance International (HAI), International Rescue Committee (IRC), Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS),  Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Foundation for Partnership Initiatives In the Niger Delta (PIND), the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC), etc, etc.

 

‘Segun wrote the proposal for the establishment of the Lagos Multi-Door Courthouse (LMDC) and served as the first in-house mediator at the Centre. He also wrote the proposals for the Kano, Uyo and Ogun States Multi-Door Courthouses (MDCs) and served as consultant on the projects. He is presently consulting for GIZ, providing Technical Support for the Plateau and Niger States MDCs. He is also consulting for the Ebonyi State Government to establish their Multi-Door Courthouse.

 

He is the first Nigerian to receive the prestigious International Mediation Accreditation from the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR), London. He is an MTI-US Certified Professional in Workplace Mediation; a Certified Third Party Neutral (TPN) from the Canadian Institute for Conflict Resolution (CICR) and a Clingendael (Netherlands) Accredited In-Sider Mediator. He also has certification in Preventive Peace-building from West Africa Network for Peace-building (WANEP) and the Conflict Transformation Institute (Denver, USA).

 

He is the President of Mediation Training Institute (MTI-Nigeria). He is the immediate past Registrar/CEO and Life-Member, Governing Council of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC). He is a Fellow of the Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP). He won the international ‘Call for Consultants’ to conduct the Neutral Mediation, Dialogue Facilitation and Training of Trainers (TOT) certification courses for staff of the Danish Demining Group (DDG) an arm of the Danish Refugee Council (DRC).

 

’Segun is a Member, Steering Committee: United Nations Mediation Support Group (UNMSG-Nigeria) and has the honour of being A West African Distinguished Personality of Repute. He is on the Panel of Neutrals of Abuja, Kano, Delta, Edo and Ogun Multi-Door Courthouses; Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC); Member, Boards of Trustees of Initiative for African Peace (Afri-Peace), Just One Foundation and My Take Initiative.  

 

He was a Consultant for the UNDP Integrated Peacebuilding Program for Nigeria’s Farmers/Herders Crisis in Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba States; training for Civilian Joint Task Force and Vigilante Groups from the North East and the Conflict Sensitive Approach to National Development. He was a consultant on the Presidential Amnesty Program for ex-militants of the Niger Delta. ’Segun is the Chief Mediator for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

 

’Segun conducts the Professional ADR Skills Accreditation and Certification course for students of the Nigerian Law School in ALL the 7 campuses and was ‘Judge’ for the National Client Interviewing and Counseling Skills Competition for University Law Students. He has done extensive research on the Effects of Personality Types on Team-building and Organizational Performance; the Financial Cost of Un-resolved Workplace Conflicts and the Application of ADR in the Criminal Justice System

 

’Segun is the author of The Effective Mediator, a resource material for practicing and aspiring mediators. He loves peace and people, demonstrating deep knowledge and understanding of human nature. He is adjudged one of the best mediators and trainers of mediators in Africa and has been appointed as an Ambassador for Peace by the Universal Peace Federation (UPF).
